The café shines with its inventive menu that goes beyond typical ice cream. Their selection of Michigan-inspired ice cream flavors, such as Michigan Pothole and Michigan Black Cherry, speaks to local pride and provides a distinct regional taste. Diners can also enjoy classic favorites like the Turtle Sundae and the Jr Banana Split, which pair perfectly with their well-crafted hot chocolate and Americano coffees available in various sizes.

Food items like the grilled cheese, burgers, and breakfast burrito receive nods for being satisfying and well-prepared, reinforcing the café’s appeal beyond just ice cream.

That said, there have been isolated concerns about service during peak times, especially with order pick-ups. Such moments highlight the challenges a popular spot faces but do not overshadow the warm, community-oriented spirit that defines Village Ice Cream & Cafe.

In essence, Village Ice Cream & Cafe offers an inviting blend of inventive comfort food and classic ice cream in a setting that feels like a step back to simpler times. For those exploring Dimondale or locals seeking a reliable, flavorful destination, it remains a beloved crossroads of sweet and savory indulgence.

Because I’ve been to this facility many times and had many good experiences, I don’t want to give them just one star. But one visit recently was an absolute zero out of five star experience. I called in and placed an order for pick up. They quoted me 10 to 15 minutes. I showed up 15 minutes later and went to the pick up counter where I let a young blonde woman know that I was the one she spoke to recently about the pick up order. She asked another young man if the order was complete and he stated that he needed to finish Filling all of the Ice Creams. I waited another 10 minutes or so while that was completed, which is understandable because they were busy as they often are. And I thought it was thoughtful for them to wait on filling the ice cream until last so that way it didn’t melt. Once he finished, he communicated to the girl that he had completed the order. So she came over to me at the pick up counter and let me know that whenever it is, I can make my way up to the register I can get my Order. I’ve never done a pick up order through this place before and maybe I’m unfamiliar with what the Protocol is but I was confused and I asked her “so you want me to go get in line now?“ She stated that it wasn’t her problem. I asked her why she didn’t communicate that to me while they were filling the order so I could work my way through the line. because this line was a solid 25 minute line and I knew that all the ice cream would absolutely be melted by the time I got to the front of it. She again stated that it wasn’t her problem, she didn’t care, and that I won’t be receiving my order until I get to the front of the line in whatever manner I can get there. Fortunately, for me, the people in line were so a aghast by her remarks and response to me That they all let me cut them to get to the register immediately. I’m honestly not accustomed to getting disrespected by high school age customer service providers So I was pretty speechless. When I got home and opened our meals, Both of the corn dogs were absolutely still completely frozen. We put them in the oven and cooked them. And they still tasted fine. But if this was my first experience with this location, I would never return.

Came in after a long walk for some food, as I heard this place had good bagels. I ended up getting the breakfast burrito because a 1 pound burrito and tots is 10.60 (steal in my book). Staff was attentive and the food was good! I know this place is known for the ice cream, but don’t sleep on the breakfast!

Cute ice cream parlor with some food items. We didn't try any of the food, but the ice cream was really good, and they had a large flavor selection. Prices were average, and servings were large. The small town of Dimondale makes it a perfect stop. You can sit inside or enjoy covered seating outside. Get your ice cream and take a walk by the Grand River or go to a pretty park by the firehouse that's on the river.

The hand dipped peanut butter/ chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is super! It's definitely quality ice cream; not just your run-of-the-mill stuff. The servers were friendly and fast.

We came her with our girl scout troop after floating on the river. The kitchen crew did an amazing job getting all our orders put fast and everyone got what they ordered. The grilled cheese sandwich and the pickle fries were 9/10 The chicken fingers and fries were 10/10 The deluxe cheeseburger and fries were 10/10 The bratwurst and Mac n cheese bites were 12/10 The deluxe cheeseburger and onion rings were exactly what was needed. The coffee ice cream so so go The Michigan cherry and mini. P.b cups and fudge topped off the menu. Best place for the price. Highly recommended. Thanks for a great experience. Well done service with a smile.

We drove here from Lansing to try the ice cream. The ice cream treats are delicious. I had a large turtle sundae. My husband had a caramel apple sundae. They also serve some breakfast sandwiches and lunch choices. We might have to try them next time we come here.
